Travel math, done before you book

Summit and Spur is a travel publication. It exists because most park trips are won or lost before anyone packs a bag: at a lodging window that opens thirteen months out, at a permit lottery with a three week application window, at a gate where the wrong pass costs forty dollars more than the right one. The scenery is the easy part. The deadlines and the arithmetic are where trips quietly go wrong, so that is the part we do for you.

The publication is starting where the work is deepest: Yellowstone and the national parks. The front door is the whole publication in one view: route guides built around how the parks actually run, a free calculator that runs the America the Beautiful pass math on your own trip, Christmas guides for New York and Chicago, and a shelf of planners that turn the deadlines into countdowns from your travel date. More parks and more trips join the shelf as their facts check out, and not before.

The standard

The standard

Every fee, window, and road date on this site is checked against the parks' official pages and recreation.gov, and each page carries the date of its check. When a fact cannot be verified, it does not ship. Where next season's rules are not yet final, the pages say so instead of dressing this year's rules up as next year's fact. The park's own page is always the final word, and the guides say that too.

The second half of the standard is candor about the business. The planners these pages point to are ours, published as the Oasis Travel shelf by Oasis Investing LLC and sold on Gumroad. They are our own first recommendation, stated plainly, not an independent review. The free material, the routes, the hosted Yellowstone map, the calculator, stays free and complete on its own terms; the planners sell the machinery around it, the countdowns, the budget run on your numbers, the editable days.

The publisher

Who publishes this

Summit and Spur is a publication of Oasis Investing LLC, a New York company. The LLC is the legal home of everything here: the site, the planners, and the tools. Questions about an order, a page, or a fact we got wrong go to hello@oasisinvestingllc.com, which is the support address for the whole company, this publication included.

Summit and Spur is an independent planner. It is not affiliated with the National Park Service, and it is not a booking service: nothing here reserves a room, a campsite, or a permit. What it does is hand you the route, the dates, and the numbers early enough for you to book them yourself, while booking is still possible.
